January 13, 2002 Voters Assembly

Recommendations from Council:            CampusPlanning Committee met with 3 professional fund raising companies. All offeredvarious strengths, however Lutheran Stewardship Counselors of Portland Oregonhad received the highest recommendations from various clients, includingLutheran High Northeast, and the committee feels they are most qualified tolead our fund raising campaign. Church Council agreed and forwardedrecommendations to the Voters.

The Campus Planning Committee alsointerviewed 3 Architectural firms. Davis Design of Lincoln received thehighest recommendations and has successfully completed projects similar ours.

All fees for services originationswith the fund raiser and the architect, would be taken from proceeds of thefund raising campaign. Since the fund raiser will begin ahead of campaignrevenues, a source of payment will be needed until the campaign begins togenerate funds. The committee recommended the School Foundation be tapped forthe first payments to the contractors. These funds would be returned to thefoundation.

The Comprehensive Plan completed byProhaska is the starting point for the architect. No assumptions are made asto the appropriateness of that plan. The design process and the fund raisingprocess must proceed concurrently. Two or more months of fund raisingactivities should provide some general guidelines to the architect. Designplans must be approved by the Voters before the process can continue.

The following recommendations were addressed by theVoters.

                                                   i.     <*dv_0*>Recommendationto the Voters, that Christ Lutheran Church enter into a contract with LutheranStewardship Counselors of Portland Oregon, to serve as the congregation’fund-raising consultant for its capital campaign. Lutheran StewardshipCounselors will bill Christ Lutheran $55,300 for their services, 10% of whichthey will donate back to the congregation bringing the total spendingauthorization to $49,770. These funds will be reimbursed from campaignproceeds. This item moved, seconded, and approved by Voters.

                                                    ii.     Recommendationto Voters, that we authorize the Treasurer to borrow funds as needed for thefirst payments to Lutheran Stewardship Counselors, from the School Foundation. These funds will be reimbursed from campaign proceeds. This item moved,seconded, and approved by Voters.

                                                     iii.     Recommendationto the Voters, to retain Davis Design of 211 N. 14^th Street LincolnNE, as the architect for the school expansion project. This item moved,seconded, and approved by Voters.

Recommendation to the Voters, that the CampusPlanning Committee be authorized to negotiate a contract with the architect. This item moved, seconded, and approved by Voters.
