Christ Lutheran Church Council Meeting

October 2, 2002

A. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bob Lindsteadt at 7:03 p.m.

B. Those in attendance were: Bob Lindsteadt, Charles Gebhardt, Pastor Fale, John Pfeil, Norm Hansen, John Davis, Duane Waltke,Dan Blomenberg, Don Weber, Mark Johnson, Pastor Leavitt, Pastor Heinsen,Mark Boche, Craig Boche, Doug Spaulding, Gary Lund, Doug Thies.

C. Pastor Fale had the opening devotion/prayer.

D. The minutes from the September 4, 2002 Council Meeting were approved.

E. There were two additions to the agenda (#6 and #7).

F. Items of Business:

1. The Touch Tomorrow Today update was given by John Davis whoread a summary of the T.T.T. task force meeting. He stated thatthere was approximately $1.3 million in pledges or donations at this point.

2. Norm Hansen stated that the slanted roof work should begin October 14 and that the flat roof work will begin about two weeksafter that.

3. Information was shared that the Eiben estate bonds were not able to be cashed yet due to some "red tape" issues. We hope to cashthem in the next four weeks. In the meantime, The motion was madeand seconded to raise the church's operating debt limit to $250,000from $200,000. - Carried.

4. The motion was made and seconded to provide registration andfees for any CLC Pastor's wife who wished to attend the Districtretreat on November 1st -2nd. The funds would come from the Elde'sPastors Retreat Funds and will not exceed $100 per spouse. - Carried.

5. There was discussion on nominations for district and circuitpositions due February 1, 2003. It was decided to table the nominations until the next church council meeting. This will allowthe council members to receive the information from the district andalso allows the council some time for prayerful consideration of thenominations.

6. John Davis shared information on improving matching funds participation and the potential funds that could be raised throughthe program. There was discussion on how best to inform thecongregation of this giving opportunity. The motion was made andseconded to bring the proposal for a Thrivent Matching FundsCampaign to the voters meeting on October 6. - Carried.

7. The motion was made and seconded to have the council authorizea fund drive for the raising of money to purchase a new music soundsystem. - Carried.

G. Reports:

1. Treasurer's Report: Craig Boche stated that the low firstquarter was typical with the start of the new school year. Thingsshould improve over the next few months. He also shared that ChildCare income was up 16% compared to last year.

2. Boards: Written Reports - Christian Nurture, Trustees, SpecialFunds, Building Fund, Christian Education (Mr. Weber highlighted the S.O.S. "Big Event" that is coming up.)

3. Principal's Report: Mr. Weber had nothing additional to report.

4. Pastors Reports:

a. Pastor Heinsen reported that there are about 40 young people gathered on Sunday mornings. 29 youth will go to the District YouthGathering November 22 - 24. About 30 went to the Ken Davisperformance. He stated that Sunday, October 13, six youth willpresent information on the three mission trips this summer at the8:00 and 10:45 services. October 13 will also be the annual Hay Rideand October 27 will be the annual Alleluia party which averages about 125 community youth.

b. Pastor Leavitt reported that he has new leads after the Bryantfuneral. He is continuing to work with other couples. A trooper'schild will be baptized on October 3. He shared that the WelcomeCenter is becoming operational.

c. Pastor Fale referenced his Pastoral Touch Newsletter and shared some Mission and Ministry concerns from the staff and possible strategies. He shared that the Bryant family was very complimentaryto CLC on the care given for the funeral. He also asked for thecouncil's commitment to prayer for the church and its programs.

H. Pastor Heinsen closed the meeting with prayer at 8:37 p.m.
