ITEMS OFBUSINESS:
CampusPlanning Committee<*dv_3*>: Areport was submitted in two parts by Kent Warneke. First, the committeeinterviewed three Professional Fund Raising companies. They found all three tobe well qualified for the work, with minor differences in fees. The committeerecommends Lutheran Stewardship Counselors because of their familiarity withChrist Lutheran, their multi-pronged approach to the drive, their commitment toa lengthy on-site period, and their availability for a spring (April or May)kick-off.
<*dv_1*>It was moved to recommend to theVoters, that Christ Lutheran Church enter into a contract with LutheranStewardship Counselors of Portland Oregon, to serve as the Congregation’sfund-raising consultant for its capital campaign. Lutheran StewardshipCounselors will bill Christ Lutheran $55,300 for their services, 10% of whichthey will donate back to the congregation bringing the total spendingauthorization to $49,770. Motion carried.
<*dv_2*>It was moved to recommend to Voters that weauthorize the Treasurer to borrow funds as needed for the first payments toLutheran Stewardship Counselors, from the School Foundation. Those funds willbe reimbursed from campaign proceeds. Motion carried.
Second, the committee interviewed threearchitectural firms to design the school expansion project. Davis Design wasrecommended to the Council based on information gathered during extensiveinterviews and contacts with previous clients of each of the firms. Enthusiastic support was offered by Lutheran High Northeast and the NorfolkArts Center.
It was moved torecommend to the Voters to retain Davis Design of 211 N. 14th StreetLincoln NE, as the architect for the school expansion project. Motion carried.
It was moved to recommend to the Votersthat the Campus Planning Committee be authorized to negotiate a contract withthe architect. Motion carried.
